Beyond Magnetic is an EP of the thrash metal band Metallica, which was published on 14 December 2011 digitally. The album contains four songs that were recorded for Metallica's ninth studio album Death Magnetic (2008). However, they had been deleted from the final version of the album and thus never released. The songs were but recycled in the thirty - year anniversary of Metallica, which took place on four evenings between 5 and 10 December 2011 and first performed live. Just a few days after the EP was released. On their website, however, gave Metallica weeks later announced that the EP will be released on January 27, 2012, in CD format. Reasons for the re-release was that they wanted to stick to the principles.
