Burundi national football team

The Burundi national football team reports to the national football federation Fédération de Football du Burundi. She could never qualified for a World Cup finals, but took only twice participated in the qualification.

In their first home game in the history of the World Cup qualifier on 25 October 1992, the Burundian national team scored a sensational 1-0 victory over Ghana, which had recently won at the Olympic Games in Barcelona as the first African team to a medal in football.

In qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil Burundi met in return game to Lesotho. After a 0-1 defeat in Lesotho return match was won 2-1. Due to the away goals rule different from Burundi.
