2000 CECAFA Cup

The 24th edition of the CECAFA Cup, officially Palmares 2000 CECAFA Championship, took place from 18 November to 2 December 2000, Uganda held. Nine eastern and central African teams played for the title of Eastern and Central Africa champion. Uganda won his eighth title.

Game Mode

Tanzania boycotted the Games because the CECACFA has chosen Uganda. Originally four groups of three were planned. Djibouti withdrew his participation back for financial reasons. The reasons for withdrawal of Zanzibar and Sudan are unknown.

The nine participating teams from eight different countries played in two groups of four or five teams. The runners-up played against the group winners of the other group in the semifinals. The two semi-final winners play in the final for the title. The semifinal losers played for 3rd place

Group A

All games were held in Kampala Nakivubo Stadium.

Group B

The matches of Group B were held in Mbale in Municipal Stadium.

Semifinal

The kO games were all in Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala instead.
