1987 CECAFA Cup
The fourteenth edition of the CECAFA Cup, officially Palmares 1987 CECAFA Championship, took place from 13 to 27 December 1987 in Ethiopia instead. Seven Central and East African teams played for the title of Eastern and Central Africa champion. Hosts Ethiopia won his first title. For the first time there was a qualification.
Game Mode
Two of the eight participating countries had to deny a qualifier to participate in the finals. The seven qualified teams played in two groups of three or four teams. The runners-up played against the group winners of the other group in the semifinals. The two semi-final winners play in the final for the title, the semi-final losers for 3rd place
