2009 CECAFA Cup
The 33rd edition of the CECAFA Cup, officially 2009 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, was held from 28 November 2009 until December 13, 2009 in Kenya. Twelve eastern and central African teams played for the title of Eastern and Central Africa champion. Uganda won his eleventh title.
The Sudan missed the registration deadline.
The tournament was sponsored by French telecommunications company Orange. With $ 175,000 you got the rights.
Game Mode
The twelve participating countries played in three groups of four teams. The group winners and runners as well as the two best third qualified for the quarter-finals. The winners played in the semifinals to reach the finals. The losers of the semifinals play for 3rd place

In the quarter and semi-finals, the third-place match and the final knockout system is played at. Is it at the games of the final round after the regular time of 90 minutes in a draw, it comes to the extension of two periods of 15 minutes and if after the end of the extension still firmly there is no winner, the penalty shoot-out.
