1996 CECAFA Cup
The twenty-second edition of the CECAFA Cup, officially Palmares 1996 CECAFA Championship, was held until 29 November 1996 with the Sudan on 17 November. Seven Central and East African teams played for the title of Eastern and Central Africa champion. Uganda won his seventh title.
Game Mode
The seven participating teams from 6 different countries played in two groups of three or four teams. The runners-up played against the group winners of the other group in the semifinals. The two semi-final winners play in the final for the title. The semifinal losers played for 3rd place
