Caldwell is a city and county seat in Burleson County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States. The Reeves - Womack House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Geography

The city is located in the central southeast Texas, almost centrally located in Burleson County at the junction of the Texas State Routes 21 and 36 and has a total area of 8.8 km ² without significant water surface. History

Until the formation of the Burleson County in 1846 the town was the county seat of Milam County. In 1856 the town had 300 inhabitants and the Caldwell House, known as one of the best hotels in Texas, was a popular meeting place for travelers heading west on the Old San Antonio Road. At that time there were in Caldwell seven general stores, two churches, a post office, a blacksmith with hardware store and two private schools, separately for boys and girls as well as a built of red bricks County Courthouse.
