Cam Atkinson

Cameron Atkinson ( born June 5, 1989 in Riverside, Connecticut ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since 2011 in the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League under contract and playing in parallel for their farm team Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League.

Career

Cam Atkinson began his career as a hockey player at Boston College, which he attended from 2008 to 2011, while he was active in parallel for the ice hockey team in the Hockey East. 2010 won the winger with the Boston College the NCAA championship and the championship title of the Hockey East. He was elected to the second all-star team of hockey East. In 2011 he was also master of the Hockey East with Boston College. He was also elected in 2011 to the most valuable player of the Hockey East as well as in their first All- Star team. In addition, the choice was followed in the first All-American team in the NCAA.

NHL Entry Draft 2008 Atkinson was selected in the sixth round as the 157th overall player of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Towards the end of the 2010/11 season he made his debut in professional hockey when he scored for Columbus ' Farm Team Springfield Falcons in five games in the American Hockey League three goals and two assists. In the following game time the Americans ran the first time for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League. In his rookie year he scored in 27 NHL games each seven goals and seven assists. However, the same time he continued to play mainly for the Springfield Falcons in the AHL and participated in the AHL All-Star Classic.

For the U.S., Atkinson took part in the 2012 World Championships.
