Casalgrande
Casal Grande is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 18,677 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia -Romagna. The municipality borders the province of Modena.
History
Near the village is a Celtic necropolis. In the Middle Ages the town was partially as a fiefdom princes of the Church in Parma or Nonantola. From the 12th century ruled local families over the place. Eventually Niccolò III. d' Este, the violence over the place to win 1409.
Traffic
Through the village leads the former State Road 467 ( Strada Bassa). Casal Grande also lies on the non-electrified railway Reggio Emilia - Sassuolo.
