Central Texas Stampede

Central Texas Stampede was an American ice hockey team from Belton, Texas. The team played from 1996 to 2001 in the Western Professional Hockey League.

History

Central Texas Stampede was founded in 1996 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League. In this the team was one of six founding members. In the season 1998/99 Stampede reached third place his division for the first time the playoffs for the President's Cup, but failed in the first round with a sweep in the best- of-three series at the Lake Charles Ice Pirates. The following year, the Texans completed the most successful season of its existence. After they won the Governor's Cup as the best team in the regular season, they failed after a bye and a victory over the Arkansas GlacierCats until the third playoff round later in the President 's Cup winner Shreveport Mudbugs with 2:4 wins in the best-of -Seven series.

During the season 2000/ 01 had to stop the running game and operating the franchise was disbanded Central Texas Stampede for financial reasons. Immediately after the season overtook the Western Professional Hockey League the same fate.
