Chaplynka

Tschaplynka (Ukrainian Чаплинка; Russian Чаплинка / Tschaplinka ) is an urban-type settlement in the southeastern Ukrainian Kherson Oblast with 9,700 inhabitants ( 2013).

The settlement was founded in 1794 since 1923 Rajonzentrum and has the status of an urban-type settlement since 1956.

Geography

Tschaplynka is located 145 km southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Kherson and 32 km north of Armjansk at the Isthmus of Perekop. The nearest railway station is located in the (Ukrainian Каланчак ) Kalantschak, 16 km away. The nature reserve Askania -Nova is located east of the settlement. The settlement Council local village Nowe still belong next to Tschaplynka (Ukrainian Нове ) with about 310 inhabitants.

The Rajon Tschaplynka is located in the south of the Kherson Oblast, bordering on the Black Sea ( Sywasch ) and the Crimea. It has 36,000 inhabitants and an area of 1722 km ². The population density is 21 inhabitants per km ².
