Christine Stückelberger

Christine Stückelberger ( May 22nd 1947) is a Swiss dressage rider.

Trained by Georg Wahl 1976-1988 she won numerous medals at the Olympic Games. The highlight of her career was the Olympic gold medal in an individual to garnet at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. In the same year she was voted athlete of the year in Switzerland. In 1978 she became world champion at Goodwood.

At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow Stückelberger voluntarily renounced participation and thus on two almost certain ( gold) medals with garnet ( the Federal Republic of Germany as the U.S. - the two most important competitors of Switzerland in the dressage team competition - boycotted the Games after the invasion the Soviet Union in Afghanistan ). In 1987 and 1988 she won the World Cup with Gaugin de Lully.

Christine was Stückelberger to October 2010, first chairman of the company, founded in 2005 for the preservation and promotion of classical riding Culture ( Xenophon ). It justified the resignation from office so that they no longer belong to feel about the club. She is also on the board of the "Society of Friends of the Spanish Riding School ".

Until his death in the fall of 2013 Stückelberger was the partner of George choice. Since the 1970s, she lives on a farm in Kirchberg SG.
