Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! is a Metalcore-/Pop-Punk-Band founded 2007 in Paris. The group consists of founding members Bertrand Poncet (vocals), Jonathan Donnaes (drums), Mathias Rigal ( Bass ), Paul Wilson ( electric guitar ) and Éric Poncet ( Guitar ).

Currently, the group has released with Something for Nothing and Pardon My French two albums, with the former published in self-distribution and was launched again after a change to Fearless Records.

History

2007-2010: Foundation and Something for Nothing

The group was founded in Paris in 2007 by Paul Wilson ( guitar ), Bertrand Poncet (vocals) and Jonathan Donnaes (drums). Wilson started the group because it is made with a sound which consists of pop-punk, hardcore and heavy metal, wanted to experiment. Shortly after the establishment were joined by two other musicians but the group quickly left again, so Bertrand's brother Eric ( electric guitar ) and his friend Mathias Rigal ( Bass ) came to the troops. Both of them had never played an instrument at the time.

The band's name came from the 1985 adventure film The Goonies published in which the protagonists Chunk and Sloth are the main characters. Another reason called Poncet that the film a "beautiful childhood memory" and was the name of the musician " reflective " within the band best. Shortly after forming, the band recorded their first EP, which contains among other things the song MILF, which was re-recorded later on the debut album.

The band itself stated that it was very complicated to play for their own fan base in France, because there was virtually no rock music scene in this country. The group managed instead to attract a group of fans in other countries of Europe and in North America. The group released on 2 September 2010 their first single In Friends We Trust for the debut album, which is published in-house on November 1, 2010, and Something for Nothing was called.

2010-2013: Pardon My French

In late January and February 2012, the group toured as support from Attack Attack! again by the States. In March and April a concert tour followed with the deathcore band Chelsea Grin. As part of the Soundwave played Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! first five concerts in Australia. These concerts took place from 23 February to 4 March 2013, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne instead. The group launched a smaller concert tour with Handguns, State Champs and City Lights as support before the band at South by So What? played. In addition, the band together with Of Mice & Men Support the first half of the tour Right Back at It Again Tour of A Day to Remember. This had the consequence that the actual Pardon My French tour had to be postponed as support with For All Those Sleeping, Upon This Dawning and City Lights. It is also envisaged as a support of Blood On The Dance Floor and Miss May I in the autumn tour.

Music style

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! are for their pop-punk -like sound, which the group combines metal and hardcore influences with Heavy known. This mix is known in the scene as "Easy Core". The lyrics are all written in English, even though the musicians had initially struggling with language problems.
