Crosey-le-Petit

Crosey -le- Petit is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Crosey -le- Petit is situated on 515 m, 10 km north- west of Sancey -le- Grand and about 30 km southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, a scenic location on a high plateau at the southern foot of the Lomont south of Doubstals.

The area of ​​9.60 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Crosey, the average is 500 m and is inclined slightly to the south. This area is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some of larger forest areas, including the Bois des Grandes Planches. The high plateau of operation is broken by several dry valleys. They extend southward and empty into a Talfurche which topographically part of the catchment area of ​​the Cusancin, but no above-ground rivers has, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. History

In the Middle Ages Crosey -le- Petit belonged to the rule Crosey -le -Grand. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Saint-Étienne was built in the 17th century and completely restored in 1826.

Population

With 118 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Crosey -le- Petit is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 235 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1960s.
