Dana Zátopková

Dana Zátopková ( born Ingrová; born September 19, 1922 in Opava) is a Czech javelin thrower. She became Olympic champion in 1952 and is the widow of the long distance runner Emil Zatopek ( 1922-2000 ).

She grew up in Uherské Hradiště in Moravia, where they first meet, later found at the high school for handball athletics. In the 1948 Olympics she placed seventh. After the games, she married on September 19, their common birthday, the current Olympic champion Emil. 1952 in Helsinki won both spouses almost the same time Olympic Gold. 1956 in Melbourne Dana was fourth, and in Rome in 1960, she won the silver medal.

She was also twice European Champion: 1954 in Bern and in 1958 in Stockholm.

Overall, she was 13 - times champion Republic, 14 times it has gained the Republic of record, twice the European record and 1958 the world record. Since 1953 she worked as trainer and today Dana Zátopková is involved nationally and internationally in the sport as a functionary.
