Dasmariñas

Dasmariñas (often shortened to Dasma; official: City of Dasmariñas, Filipino: Lungsod ng Dasmariñas ) is a city (component city) in the Philippine province of Cavite. It lies about 30 km south of Manila. Dasmariñas was up to the city survey on 25 November 2009 by the Republic Act No.. 9723 relative to the population of the largest city municipality in the Philippines.

Neighboring communities

Dasmariñas is bordered to the north by the Municipality of Imus, on the east by the municipality of San Pedro, separated by the river Embarcadero in northeastern separately to the Municipality of Carmona, on the south by the municipality of Silang as well as by the river ylang -ylang to the township General Trias. Except for San Pedro in the province of Laguna all neighboring communities belong to the province of Cavite.

History

The name goes back to the Spanish Governor Gómez Pérez Dasmariñas, who was from 1590 to 1593 governor of the Philippines. After his death, his son Luis Pérez Dasmariñas was the governor from 1593 to 1596 in the Philippines. Dasmariñas means in Galician language literally means " of the Navy "

Aspirations for city survey

Dasmariñas aspirations of a city (municipality ) to a city (component city) rise, resulting in referendums in 1997 and 2000. Both times the referendum was rejected by an overwhelming majority. In December 2009, Dasmarinas was finally made ​​to the city.

Economy and infrastructure

Dasmariñas is one of the fastest growing municipalities of the province of Cavite. Many shops, including major shopping malls, fast food restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, restaurants and other service-oriented businesses are concentrated mainly in the capital. Industrial enterprises are located in the suburbs. Dasmariñas is the municipality with the most universities in the province of Cavite. Three major industrial parks, including First Cavite Industrial Estate ( FCIE ) in Baranggay Langkaan, Dasmariñas Technopark in Baranggay paliparan I and NHA in Bagong Bayan located in Dasmariñas.
