Geography

Geographical location

The community Eberhardzell located in the southern of the Biberach about halfway straight line between Biberach an der Riss in the north and in the south- southeast Bad Wurzach. Your homonymous nucleus is located at the southeast edge of the plateau Hochgeländ and is traversed by a portion of the crack inflow Umlach. The municipality lies between 560 ( at the, north of Eberhardzell hamlets ) and 712 m above sea level. NN ( Hohbäumle at Füramoos ), the nucleus at 588 m height.

Structure

The municipality includes the villages Füramoos next to the eponymous Eberhardzell ( 2,149 inhabitants on 1 January 2005) ( 694 inhabitants ), Mulhouse ( 555 inhabitants) and Oberessendorf ( 648 inhabitants).

History

Eberhardzell, formerly written also Eberhardzell, Eberzell or Mariazell, was first mentioned in documents in 1246. 1331 sold the Lords of Walsee the place to the Habsburgs, who gave the parish in 1456 the monastery shot Ried. By Reichsdeputationshauptschluss fell their goods as compensation for loss of territory west of the Rhine to the Count of Sternberg - Manderscheid. Since 1520 the place Eberhardzell belonged to the Steward of Waldburg- Wolfegg - Waldsee. In the wake of the Pressburg Peace Upper Swabia came under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Württemberg. Eberhardzell was as a community associated with the upper office Waldsee, before they came to the district of Biberach in the course of district reform in 1938.

The Heinrichsburg called to 1620 Herlisberg or Herlinsberg, located above Eberhardzell, was until 1997 owned by the the Counts of Waldburg- Wolfegg - Waldsee family. The last owner was Heinrich Graf von Waldburg- Wolfegg - Waldsee, († 1972), married to Maria- Antonia Princess of Hohenzollern -Sigmaringen († 2011). Religions

Eberhardzell is dominated Roman Catholic from time immemorial. Even today comprises more than 80 % of the inhabitants of the Catholic Church. While the Catholic parish Eberhardzell features in all four districts each have a church, members of other denominations or religions have to go to church in surrounding communities.

Incorporations

The church was re- formed on 1 January 1975 by the Association of Municipalities Eberhardzell, Füramoos and Oberessendorf. Already on March 1, 1972 Mühlhausen was incorporated into Eberhardzell.

Coat of arms

Since 1981, the village will perform the following coat of arms: In a red shield silver between main and a red sign foot a border, guardant, red bezungter black lion. The lion symbolizes the membership of the dominion of the house Waldenburg, the colors indicate the membership of Further Austria.

Before the Municipality: diagonally to the right in red toppled three silver shells over each other.

The coat of arms of the former municipalities are still used unofficially in the present-day districts of:

  • Füramoos: In split- front plate in red a silver scale, in the back of a silver dreilatzige red flag. The dreilatzige flag refers to the house of Montfort.
  • Mulhouse: In silver and red shield divided up half a red water wheel on the pitch, bottom black gefugtes masonry.
  • Oberessendorf: In goldbordiertem blue shield a golden eagle.

Culture and sights

Music and choir singing determine the cultural life of Eberhardzell and its towns. With the music clubs Eberhardzell, Füramoos, Mühlhausen and Oberessendorf and the choirs of the Liederkranz Eberhardzell and the respective local church choirs, musical events in Upper Swabia is provided impressive evidence. During carnival time, the local was founded in 1960 Narrenzunft Zeller Schwarze Katz eV takes over the rule in place.

Natural Monuments

  • The nature reserve is located in the southern district of Mauchenmühle Mühlhausen.
  • The betting Berger Ried, a few kilometers east of the core of high local village is located on the Hochgeländ, is a peat bog and forest reserve area that has been designated as a nature reserve.

The main location of business establishments is Oberessendorf on the B 30 / B 465 The commercial structure of the overall community Eberhardzell is mainly characterized by the woodworking industries, gravel / concrete / recycling, software and agricultural machinery farm equipment segment. The largest employer is the firm wood works tailor, Eberhardzell -Kappel with 250 employees.

Oberessendorf was also the seat of the now merged with other companies All for One system Haus AG. Born out of the consulting company founded in 1978 Härle system house had subsidiaries in Italy, USA and Canada. The 250 employee company with six locations ( as of 2008) in 2008 was 100 % - owned subsidiary of systematic Germany and 2009 retroactive to September 30, 2008 merged with the systematic Germany GmbH. In the Heinrichsburg, an agricultural estate which lies on the boundary of Eberhardzell, since 1994, the MALI group of companies headquartered. Owner of the company until his death in 2010, Markus Liebherr, a son of Hans Liebherr. The company is trying there with a group of specialists to develop a larger tractor for series production.

Educational institutions

With the Gebhard Müller School Eberhardzell has its own primary and secondary school. In Eberhardzell, Füramoos and Oberessendorf there is one municipal kindergarten.
