Ed Sandford

Ed Michael Sandford ( born August 20, 1928 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Between 1947 and 1956 he played in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks in the position of left winger.

Career

Ed Sandford began his career in the organization of the Toronto St. Michael's Majors, for their junior team St. Michael's Buzzers he was active between 1943 and 1945. For the St. Michael's Majors, he served from 1945 to 1947 a major league higher in the Ontario Hockey Association ( OHA ). During this time he won with the majors after a final triumph against the Moose Jaw Canucks the Memorial Cup in 1947. 's OHA - season 1946/47, the offensive player scored also in 36 games 91 points scorer. His best statistical season was Ed Sandford in the NHL season 1953/54, when he was able to achieve 47 points in 70 games and thus at the end of the season was the most successful player in the Bruins and eight best scorer of the entire National Hockey League. In the season 1954/55 Sandford was appointed captain of the Bruins.

At the start of the following season the winger was part of an exchange transaction between the Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings, in which, among other goalie and Hockey Hall -of- Famer Terry Sawchuk was transferred to Boston. After four games for the Red Wings, he was issued on October 24, 1955 in exchange for Metro Prystai to the Chicago Blackhawks.
