Geography
The place is situated in Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park, above the Neuwied Basin.
To Ehlscheid includes the residential places Forestry Gommerscheid house, yard and valley views Talhof.
History
Ehlscheid was first documented in 1311.
Ehlscheid was connected to the grid in 1905 and 1912 to the telephone network. 1957 began with the financial support of local hotels to build a swimming pool in the Laubachtal.
The recognition as a health resort was in 1963, the predicate Medical Climatic health resort was granted in 1992. Due to declining numbers of overnight stays several hotels had to close in recent years. Due to the general decline in overnight stays also associated with a decrease in the spa facilities in the village was decided by the community, the title of " welfare-climatic health resort " giving back.

Religion
Ehlscheid belongs to the parish Rengsdorf. Since the location of the County of Wied, see Hermann V of Wied was, the people were after the Reformation on the basis of the Augsburg Imperial and religious peace to the 20th century Protestant. Things to Do
- The outdoor pool Laubachtal was inaugurated in 1958 and has a 15 x 25 meter pool. In 2012 it had to be closed due to structural damage. At present, with sponsorship campaigns for the preservation of the swimming pool.
