Hausen (Wied)

Hausen ( Wied) is a municipality in the district of Neuwied in the north of Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Waldbreitbach. Hausen is a nationally recognized health resort.

Geographical location

The village lies on the Wied in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park southwest of Waldbreitbach. The rural community located about 30 km north of Koblenz and 50 km south of Cologne.

Geology

With 373 m above sea level. NN is the Malberg the highest elevation of the community, at the same time the municipality Rheinbrohl and the town of Bad Hönningen. It is an extinct volcano that was mined in the basalt to 1932. In the resulting crater is now home to a small lake. On the eastern flank of the mountain introduces no longer supervised basalt trail to the summit.

History

Today Hausen was established on October 1, 1971 by renaming the existing community Bremscheid in Rhineland -Palatinate. It consists of 17 villages and hamlets, each with an independent story that included until 1803 to Kurkölns Honnschaft Bremscheid. The name derives from the nucleus may have been mentioned a 1268 donation of fields and forests in Husen by a certain Mr. de Britsche. From a settlement is not likely at this time. 1660 are documented two courtyards, 143 inhabitants in 1843.

In 1700, a hermit lived named Hubertus Quirenbach in the chapel; he expanded it to a transept and those Klausen, in which Rosa Flesch ( mother Rosa ) had lived with her epileptic sister Marianne in 1851. The founder of the Franciscans had to give Waldbreitbacher 1860 Peter Wirth and his companion Anton Weber; they then settled on the mountain chapel in Waldbreitbacher district Glockscheid down (today Klostermarienberg house).
