Leubsdorf

Leubsdorf is a municipality in Rhineland-Palatinate on the Rhine in the district of Neuwied. The community belongs to the municipality of Linz am Rhein. Leubsdorf is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Leubsdorf is on the right side of the Rhine south of Linz am Rhein and the local community Dattenberg. The municipal area extends to the districts Hesseln, Krumscheid and Rothe Cross up to the first heights of the Westerwald and reached there at about 365 m above sea level. History

With the name " Lupstorf " the village was first mentioned in a document in 639. With " Lupstorf " is meant " village of the Lupo " or " the Luitprecht ". This name refers to the rule of the Franks in the Middle Rhine around the year 500.

In the deed from 639 Pepin gives the Elder ( † 640) of his daughter Gertrude ( 626-659 ), the first abbess of the monastery of Nivelles, places with vineyards, forests and fisheries.
