Erik Edman
Erik Edman Kenneth ( born November 11, 1978 in Huskvarna ) is a Swedish football player. The defender, who participated with the Swedish national team in two World and one European Championship finals, played in his career in Sweden, Italy, Germany, England, France and the Netherlands. With Helsingborgs IF he won in his home country several national titles.
Career
Start your career with the first item
Edman began in 1985 with the football games at Habo IF, where his father worked as a coach. 1994 concluded the defender to the traditional club Helsingborgs IF, where he was initially employed for three years in youth. In 1997 he made his debut for the club in Allsvenskan and was able to quickly establish itself as a regular player. In his second year as a pro he could with the National Cup celebrated his first title win in 1999, he enlisted in the first half of the season yet for the sixth championship of the club at -. After only one season, however, Edman joined shortly after the start of the new season the club and went to Stade Rennes in Ligue 1, where he played alongside his countrymen Kim Kallstrom and Andreas Isaksson from joining hoped the defender to better chances of consideration at the 2006 World Cup. After the somewhat turbulent by the quarrels about the change start to the season he could play in the starting eleven for the French team. His hopes to participate in the World Cup came true and he played all four games of Sweden, until they were eliminated in the second round against hosts Germany. After Edman had missed with Rennes in the first year as seventh in the international business by just one point, the team was after the 2006 /07 on the fourth. After they had succeeded off Lokomotiv Sofia in the UEFA Cup 2007/08 to reach the group phase, which was, however, ended with the last place.
During the winter break of the season 2007 /08 Edman moved back into the Premier League. His new employer was in January 2008, Wigan Athletic, where he signed a valid contract until the summer of 2010 two and a half years when the English first division, he established himself as a mainstay of the team. However, he was injured on Holy Saturday, March 22, 2008 hard at the game against Blackburn Rovers. In a collision with Jason Roberts he suffered a cruciate ligament injury. After a long injury break he gave in January 2009 for Wigan at the 1-3 defeat in the FA Cup against Tottenham Hotspur on 84 minutes a brief comeback in February, he returned in a 2-0 win over Austria back in the national team. Until his league comeback, it took until May, when he came on as a substitute twice to end the season in the Premier League action. Under coach Roberto Martínez he came in the following season hardly to the course, as this Maynor Figueroa gave preference.
Re- return to Sweden
In February 2010, Edman changed again in the Allsvenskan. In his first professional station Helsingborgs IF he signed a five-year contract. On the side of Mattias Lindström, Marcus Lantz and Joel Ekstrand he stood up straight into the starting line- assisted by Conny Karlsson clubs, behind the Malmö FF was runner-up in the 2010. Nevertheless, the year was not without its title, as the final was reached at the National Cup. In the match against second division side Hammarby IF, which was won by a goal from Rasmus Jönsson 1-0, he was the complete season in Söderstadion on the court. In Supercupen at the beginning of the following year he was part of the starting lineup, after goals by Marcus Nilsson and Erik Sundin with a goal from Wilton Figueiredo the game against Malmö FF was won 2-1. In the following season, the club continued its successful course, Edman completed with the team by winning the league title and the title defense in the National Cup the triple win in Sweden. In a world of multiple injuries playing time he just stood in almost half of the season games in the square and watched the Cup Final from outside the square.
In autumn 2011, Edman launched a coach training at the side of Tobias Linderoth, Nils- Eric Johansson, Anders Andersson and Marcus Lantz.
