Fernando Monje

Fernando Monje Vicario ( born March 7, 1993, Barcelona ) is a Spanish racing driver. He will start in 2012 in the World Touring Car Championship ( WTCC).

Career

Monje began his motorsport career in 2005 in karting, where he was active until 2008. In 2009, he debuted in the Formul'Academy Euro Series in Formula racing. He was tenth overall. In addition, he completed guest starts in the Catalan Monoposto Championship and he took in touring car racing part in several races of the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa.

2010 moved Monje in the European F3 Open. He started for De Villota Motorsport and finished the season in sixth place in the championship. 2011 remained Monje in the European F3 Open, and stood in for DRIVEX. A fifth position was his best finish and he finished the season starting on the 15th place. In addition, he took part in an endurance race.

2012 left Monje formula racing and moved to touring car racing. He goes for SUNRED Engineering in the World Touring Car Championship ( WTCC) at the start. Since not enough current motors for the SEAT León were available, it starts first with a SUNRED - 1.6T engine. After the second race weekend was a 18th place his best result. In addition, Monje takes part in the European Touring Car Cup ( ETC Cup). This he cites after the first event. When scheduling conflicts between the WTCC and the ETC Cup he drives the ETC Cup.
