Frank O. Horton

Frank Ogilvie Horton ( born October 18, 1882 in Muscatine, Muscatine County, Iowa; † August 17, 1948 in Sheridan, Wyoming ) was an American politician. Between 1939 and 1941 he represented the state of Wyoming in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

After primary school, Horton attended until 1899 the Morgan Park Military Academy in Illinois. Then he studied until 1903 at the University of Chicago. His studies were interrupted by the Spanish-American War, in which Frank Horton participated in 1898 as a simple soldier. In 1905 he moved to Saddle String in Wyoming, where he dealt with the livestock.

Political rise

Frank Horton was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1921 and 1923 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Wyoming, from 1923 to 1931 he was a member of the State Senate. In 1931 he was president of that body. In 1928 and 1936 he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions relevant, on which were Herbert C. Hoover and Alf Landon nominated as presidential candidate of the Republicans. In the congressional elections of 1938, Horton was elected against the incumbent Paul Ranous Greever the U.S. House of Representatives. There he completed between January 1939 and January 3, 1941 3 a legislature. In 1940, failed his planned re-election. His seat went to John J. McIntyre, the candidate of the Democratic Party.

After the end of his time in Congress, Frank Horton committed himself again his business interests in Saddle String. He was now the owner of the HF Bar Ranch. He died in August 1948 and was buried in Buffalo.
