John Eugene Osborne

John Eugene Osborne ( born June 19, 1858 in Westport, Essex County, New York, † April 24, 1943 in Rawlins, Wyoming ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party, Governor of the State of Wyoming as well as a Member of the House of Representatives of the United States.

Biography

After school he studied medicine at the University of Vermont, from which he graduated in 1880 with the graduation. He then began his career as a doctor at the Union Pacific Railroad. From this time a story is handed down, after which he left in 1881 to soak the body of a lynched man in a salt solution to peel the skin, so that he could turn it into, among others, a pair of shoes. When he was elected in 1892 to the Governor of the new State of Wyoming, he is said to have worn these shoes. After he had settled in Rawlins, he was successful in the pharmaceutical and livestock industry and ended up being the largest sheep farmer in Wyoming Territory.
