The Bahnhof Frankfurt- Zeilsheim is a breakpoint in the network of S- Bahn Rhein -Main. It was opened after extensive construction work on 13 May 2007.

Name and location

The breakpoint is located on the embankment of the Main -Lahn -Bahn, which is also the border between the districts of Sindlingen and Zeilsheim. Thus, the platform towards downtown and Dietz Bach is located in Sindlingen while the platform towards low- Hausen in Zeilsheim is.

By road breakdown the stretch of road Sindlinger way street / West -High - road runs. There lies the eastern entrance of the station, each with a staircase and a ramp. A second breakthrough for pedestrians was created on the western entrance to bind Ferdinand Hofmann settlement and the International School Frankfurt-Rhein/Main in Sindlingen.

Although the breakpoint is located in the district of Frankfurt's residential area Sindlingen and not in the eponymous Zeilsheim, the breakpoint was named after Zeilsheim because the breakpoint Sindlingen already exists. The term " Sindlingen North " was part of the Deutsche Bahn rejected.

Use

S -Bahn

The breakpoint is served by the S -Bahn line S2 S-Bahn Rhein- Main, runs the distance between the low- Hausen and Dietz Bach. It operates on weekdays at 30- minute intervals during peak times at 15- minute intervals and on weekends every hour.

The breakpoint Frankfurt -Zeilsheim heard the train station category 5 ( mass transit system maintenance ) of the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB).

Bus

To bind the station better, the entire bus network in the western part of Frankfurt was revised timetable change 2006/2007 in December 2006. Bus lines 50 and 51, who have had their end stations in Kolberger way, were withdrawn after maximum. For this, the new line 53 was set up as the existing line 54 at the train station stops and this reinforced in Zeilsheim. For the new bus stop Zeilsheim the station stop Edenkobener road was repealed in Sindlingen due to the small distance.

On the nearby bus stop, the city bus lines stop 53 ( Zeilsheim station - maximum Bolongaropalast ), 54 ( Sindlingen cemetery -Griesheim Bahnhof) and 57 ( settlement Taunusblick - Höchst Industrial Park West Gate ), which connect the breakpoint with the district center.

For line 53, a large bus station was on the opposite eastern side of the road built with reversible system, because it has its last stop there. However, the construction of this plant was delayed, so the line was temporarily extended until Sindlinger station. The stops of lines 54 and 57 are located directly in the eastern underpass.

The bus stop Zeilsheim station will also be approached from the night bus n8.

History

The communities Zeilsheim and Sindlingen were amalgamated in 1917 to the city Höchst am Main, this 1928 to Frankfurt. The construction of the railway between Zeilsheim Are Lingen and was part of the annexation agreement between Frankfurt am Main and High. In Annex 5 ( Municipal program of the city Höchst am Main) stated that " ... shall be a stop at the Limburger track for Sindlingen -Zeilsheim soon as possible. "

The plans for today's construction is based on the " Studies on the update of the General Transport Master Plan 1976/82, part of the overall network rail 2000 in Frankfurt am Main ". In it the construction of a commuter train station in Zeilheim will be appreciated. Therefore, the city council instructed the magistrate after years of preparation, on 29 April 1999 with the preliminary planning for the construction of the breakpoint.

After creating the planning by the City of Frankfurt and implementation of the plan approval procedure by the German Bahn AG the start of construction of the project was in January 2006. Originally Zeilsheim station should be opened to the timetable change on 10 December 2006. Due to significant delays and mishaps during the construction, the opening but shifted to the spring of 2007. Having initially named as the April deadline, called the German railway 13 May 2007 as the opening date, which could be ultimately respected.

So that this point has been met from the incorporation Treaty of 1928 after 79 years.
