Frederik Nielsen

Frederik Nielsen Lochte ( born August 27, 1983 in Kongens Lyngby ) is a Danish tennis player.

Career

Nielsen plays on the ATP level both in single as well as double. While greater success on the ATP Tour have so far failed to materialize, he has already won 18 titles on the Challenger Tour. This exception, he won with mostly different partners in doubles. His greatest successes in individual were the achievement of two Challenger finals (2008 in Dublin and in 2010 in Loughborough ) and the successful qualification for the 2012 Australian Open, where he was eliminated in the first round against Kevin Anderson. At Wimbledon, he moved with Jonathan Marray the semi-finals of the doubles competition, where they defeated the defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan in four sets. In the final, they could beat the team Robert Lindstedt Horia Tecau in a close game over five sets. Thus, they were the first equipped with a wildcard player, who won the doubles competition at Wimbledon. This success promoted Nielsen ranked 24 of the double world rankings. Nielsen also was the first Dane, who failed to qualify for the doubles competition of the season finals, where he reached the semifinals with Jonathan Marray.

At the same time Nielsen was thus the first Danish Grand Slam title winner of the Open Era. Only his grandfather Kurt Nielsen has won in front of him at the U.S. Open in 1957 at a Grand Slam Mixed, but was failed in Wimbledon twice in the finals of the individual competition.
