2012 Australian Open

The 100th Australian Open was a tennis hard court tournament Class Grand Slam, which was organized by the ITF. It was held from 16 to 29 January 2012 in Melbourne, Australia.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic in the individual were in the men's and Kim Clijsters in the women. While Djokovic was able to defend his title against Rafael Nadal, Clijsters was eliminated in the semifinals against Wiktoryja Azarenka from Belarus. Azarenka defeated Maria Sharapova in the final in straight sets, and thus not only won her first Grand Slam title, but also took the lead for the first time in the world rankings of the ladies. In men's doubles, the twin brothers Bob and Mike Bryan were defending champions, but failed in the final of the unseeded duo Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek. In women's doubles, the defending champion Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta failed due to eventual champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera inner Swonarjowa. In mixed Bethanie Mattek -Sands and Horia Tecau won.

On German television, the tournament of Euro Sport has been transferred.
