2012 Brasil Open
The Brasil Open 2012 was a tennis tournament, which took place in São Paulo from 13 to 19 February 2012. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2012 and was held in the hall on clay court. In the same week were in Rotterdam, the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament and played in the San Jose SAP Open. The latter included just like the SAP Open to Category ATP World Tour 250, while the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament belonged to Category ATP World Tour 500.
From 2001 to 2011, the tournament in Costa do Sauipe 1849 km away was discharged. In individual Nicolás Almagro went to defend their title and could his title by a final victory over Filippo Volandri defend successfully. This was after 2008 and 2011, his third title at the Brasil Open, and his eleventh overall ATP title. Last year's winner in double, Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares, played this year, with each new partners. In the quarter finals they met each other, while Soares was able to prevail with Eric Butorac. Then made it to the final, which they won in three sets against Michal Mertiňák and André Sá. This was their first joint title; Soares had previously won five ATP titles with other partners, already twelve Butorac.
The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
