2002 Australian Open

The Australian Open took in 2002 from 14 to 28 January in Melbourne instead.

Defender of the single were Andre Agassi in the men's and Jennifer Capriati with the ladies. In the men's doubles were Jonas Bjorkman and Todd Woodbridge, in women's doubles Serena and Venus Williams, the defending champion. Corina Morariu and Ellis Ferreira were the defending champions in the mixed doubles.

In the men's singles Thomas Johansson could win the only Grand Slam title of his career. In women's singles, the American Jennifer Capriati successfully defended their title. The men's doubles was Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor win, and in women's doubles won Martina Hingis and Anna Kournikova. In mixed Daniela Hantuchova and Kevin Ullyett won.
