2012 Open GDF Suez

The Open GDF Suez 2012 was the 20th edition of the hard court tennis tournament in Paris. They were as tournament the Premier category part of the WTA Tour in 2012. The tournament was held from February 6 to 12 at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. In the same week was held from February 5 to 12, the PTT Pattaya Open 2012 in Pattaya instead.

Defending champion in the individual was from the Czech Republic Petra Kvitová and doubles pairing Bethanie Mattek -Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy. Both Kvitová and Shaughnessy were not on this year, Mattek -Sands difference with a new partner in the first round.

Winner of the single was the German Angelique Kerber, who thus won her first WTA title. She defeated Marion Bartoli in the final of the local hero with 7:63, 5:7 and 6:3. Already in the quarterfinals she switched surprising from the top-seeded Maria Sharapova, which was Kerber's first win against a top 5 player. The U.S. Americans Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond won the doubles final in straight sets against Anna -Lena Grönefeld and Petra Martić.
