George Garzone

George Garzone ( born September 23, 1950 in Boston) is an American jazz saxophonist ( tenor and soprano saxophone) and music teacher.

After attending the Berklee College of Music Garzone occurred a short time with Woody Herman and the pop singer Tom Jones. In 1972 he founded the jazz trio The Fringe, with whom he performs regularly in Boston and recorded several albums. In addition, he worked among others with Jamaaladeen Tacuma, with whom he undertook a tour of Europe, with Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette, Rachel Z and John Patitucci. Since the establishment, he was a member of George Schuller's Orange Then Blue formation, but was also temporarily the band The Boys of George Schull and Ed Schuller. In addition, he recorded with George Russell, Bob Moses, Mike Mainieri and Ingrid Jensen.

Garzone informed, inter alia, Jazz at Berklee College of Music, the New England Conservatory, the Longy School of Music, New York University and the New School University Jazz and Contemporary Program. He uses the " Triadic Chromatic Approach". His most famous students are Joshua Redman, Branford Marsalis, Teodross Avery, Luciana Souza, Mark Turner, Donny McCaslin, Doug Yates and Danilo Pérez.
