Gintautas Iešmantas
Gintautas Iešmantas ( born January 1, 1930 in Šūkliai at Kybartai, Rajongemeinde Vilkaviškis ) is a Lithuanian politician and writer.
Life
From 1937 to 1943 he studied in Griškabūdis in Rajongemeinde Šakiai and 1944-1949 in Šakiai. From 1949 to 1953 he completed the diploma program for Lithuanian language and literature at Vilniaus Pedagoginis institutas and became a teacher. From 1953 to 1970 he worked in the newspaper " Lietuvos pionierius ", " Tarybinis mokytojas ", " Liaudies sargyboje " as a correspondent, 1972-1974 as head of the editorial department of " Komjaunimo tiesa ". In 1980 he was arrested and convicted of anti-Soviet activity. He had the imprisonment in Perm Oblast, in Rajon Tschussowoi. From 1986 to 1988 he was expelled by Komi and amnestied in 1988. From 1990 to 1991 he was editor of " Lietuvos žinios " and from 1990 to 1992 teaching load in the Seimas.
From 1989 he was a member of the LSDP.
