Greg Cannom

Gregory " Greg" Cannom (* 1951) is an American artist. Cannom was responsible for the makeup in some of the most successful Hollywood films of all time, winning four Academy Awards for his work in a total of ten nominations.

Life

Cannom was involved in more than 100 films in his career. He initially specialized mainly on numerous horror and science fiction films. Later he also worked on a variety of comedies such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Jingle All the Way, Big Momma's House or The Mask with Jim Carey with. Also, some TV series such as Will & Grace and TV movies were among his projects.

In the 1990s, Cannom was, inter alia, responsible for the blockbuster Titanic by James Cameron and Steven Spielberg's Hook, as well as for films like Batman Returns, Blade, insider and Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola. During this time he was nominated six times for an Academy Award, which he won for the movies Bram Stoker's Dracula and Mrs. Doubtfire two of the awards for Best Makeup. To this end, numerous other nominations came at the Emmys, the BAFTA Awards and the Saturn Awards.

Also in the 2000s were very successful films with elaborate make-up such as Pirates of the Caribbean, A Beautiful Mind, Hannibal, Ali or Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ to the work Cannoms. In this decade, he has been nominated three times for an Oscar for the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 2009 he won his fourth Oscar. Previously, he was honored in 2005 together with Wesley Wofford for the development of a novel silicone material for producing masks with an Academy Award for Technical Merit.

Other films in which Cannom participated were, for example, Cocoon, Star Trek VI, as well as continuations of the successful film series Nightmare, Highlander, Kickboxer, The Exorcist or Alien.
