Guadalupe-Mountains-Nationalpark

Founded on October 15, 1966 Guadalupe Mountains National Park encompasses part of the mountain range of the Guadalupe Mountains of West Texas. The mountains form a strong contrast to the surrounding Chihuahuan Desert. In this southernmost foothills of the Rocky Mountains is located 130 kilometers north and the Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

The park is the highest point in Texas, the 2,667 meter high Guadalupe Peak and a mountain called El Capitan, a long time was a recognition point for travelers on an old road that was later used by the Butterfield Overland stagecoach. The remains of an old stagecoach station are obtained near the Pine Springs Visitor Center.
