The Hamburg Dammtorbahnhof, named after Dammtorbahnhof, a former gate of the city walls, is a train station the train station category 2 for the railway and S -Bahn in Hamburg. History

Station of 1866

The first station Dammtorbahnhof in Hamburg in 1866 established at the newly Hamburg- Altona railway connection.

The station building in the early days style with center part and side wings had on the north side of a platform, which was facing the course of Alsterglacis at the confluence of the New Rabenstraße. The combination of station building and station hall has four tracks on two central platforms that are spanned by a clad with sandstone Art Nouveau hall. The building is a listed building and was extensively restored between 1999 and 2002 according to the specifications of the architect Stefan Rimpf. The north exit of the station leads to the district of Rother tree. Prior to running the Edmund -Siemers -Allee - with the middle of the road arranged stop for the bus - which further leads to the nearby main building of the University of Hamburg, with the underlying incipient Grindelviertel.
