Geography
Geographical location
Hazel is situated on the southern edge of the Black Forest in Haseltal between the valleys of the meadow and the Wehra.
Neighboring communities
The municipality is bordered to the south on the town weir in the Waldshut district and is otherwise surrounded by the territory of the town Schopfheim.
Community structure
The municipality includes the villages of hazel hazel and glassworks and the houses Altmatt station and hazel. The municipality is the deserted village Eichenbrunnenhof.
History
Hazel was first mentioned in a document of the monastery of St. Gall from the year 820 as Hasalaho. Various spiritual and secular dignitaries had rights in the village until 1503, came to the Margraviate of Baden.

Natural Monuments
The Erdmannshöhle in hazel is one of the oldest caves in Germany. Their total length is more than two kilometers, which is accessible for visitors Part 360 meters long. Hazel has a Protestant kindergarten and a primary school. Secondary schools are in the four kilometers away weir ( Realschule) and in Schopfheim seven kilometers distant (high school ).
