Hirono (Fukushima)

Hirono (Japanese広 野 町, machi ) is a town in the district of Futaba in the Japanese prefecture of Fukushima.

In Japan Hirono is known for the national football training center J -Village, where also coached the national team to the Tōhoku earthquake in 2011. After the training center was used as accommodation for workers who were involved in the cleanup of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Geography

Hirono is located on the Pacific Ocean. 10 km away from the coast, the highlands Abukuma increases, which is characterized by forests and largely uninhabited. Its highest elevation within the municipality is the Gosha -yama (五 社 山) with 685.3 m. In the south side of the river also rises Asami -gawa (浅见 川), which flows 21 km to the city center in the Pacific. Other rivers in the municipality are of about one kilometer south which opens Oriki -gawa (折 木 川) and about one kilometer north which opens Kitaba -gawa (北 迫 川). Both spring from just outside the municipal area.

Hirono is surrounded by Naraha in the north and in the south of Iwaki.

History

In the archaeological site Uetagō (上 田 郷 遗迹, Uetagō Iseki ) ceramics have been found from the Jōmon period, demonstrating that the area was inhabited by Hirono already at that time.

In the late 15th century, the Iwaki clan was on the 122.5 m high hill Takakura no longer preserved castle Takakura (高 仓 城, Takakura - jo ) build, from which the surrounding region up to the northern part of the district of Iwaki (磐 城 郡) was controlled.

The community Hirono was founded during the nationwide reorganization of the municipal system on April 1, 1889, was located in the former County Naraha (楢 叶 郡, -gun ). This county was (双 叶 郡, -gun ), literally, on 1 April 1896 the county Shineha (标 叶 郡, -gun ) to the district of Futaba, " two ha (叶) " merged.

On April 1, 1940 Hirono was incremented to the small town ( machi ).

1986 parts of a hadrosaur - skeleton were found in Hirono, which by some researchers as a new species named Hironosaurus (ヒロノリュウ, Hironoryū ) is considered.

The city was taken on 11 March 2011 by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami which triggered, which until May 20, two dead and one missing persons were counted. By which triggered Fukushima nuclear disaster evacuation was recommended for a 20- 30-km radius around the plant within which the city is located completely. On March 15, the local government was initially housed in the sports hall of Ono and then moved to Iwaki on April 15. When the government withdrew the evacuation recommendation end of September 2011, Hirono was on 14 December 2011, the first church that moved its administrative functions back again.

Traffic

The main highways of Hirono are the Joban highway to Misato and National Road 6 by Chūō (Tokyo) or Sendai.

Connection to the rail network is the JR Joban Line to Nippori Station in Arakawa or Iwanuma.

The Joban Line towards Iwanuma here has its current terminus, as well as the highway ends at the exit after Hirono, as followed in each case the exclusion zone.

Education

In Hirono Hirono is the primary school (広 野 町 立 広 野 小学校, Hirono Hirono - chōritsu shōgakkō ) and the middle school Hirono (広 野 町 立 広 野 中 学校, Hirono Hirono - chōritsu chūgakkō ).

Twinning

July 29, 2008 Misato was the sister city in Saitama Prefecture.

Hirono Power Station

Tepco operates approximately 3 km north of the city, the power plant Hirono. It has three blocks of 600 MW and two blocks with 1,000 MW in which heavy oil, oil and coal fired. Situated right on the Pacific Ocean power plant was damaged by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami of 2011 and put into operation after four months.
