The place was first mentioned as a major Radisch Radisschaw in records in 1422. The name comes from the Slavic "place of Radis " and is probably due to the local founder or refer to the Slavic god of war Radegast.

Jerchwitz was formerly called " Erbisdorff " or " Erich village". The current derived from the Slavic name is derived from the term Jarczowice, which means " village of Jarosch " or " village of Jarik ".

The place name is derived from the Slavic Thräna of Drenow ( " Cornus " ) or the term ctrawa ( " meadow " or " Moor ").
