Krauschwitz, Upper Sorbian Krušwica, is a municipality in the district Görlitz, Saxony. It is located in the Sorbian settlement area of ​​Upper Lusatia and is located in the north-east of Saxony at the German -Polish border.

Geography

The municipality is located in Krauschwitz Muskauer Heide in the northeastern part of the county, about five kilometers north-east of White Water. To the east of the town Krauschwitz the Lusatian Neisse River, along which the districts are upstream to the southeast flows:

History

Krauschwitz is mentioned as Kruswica the first time in 1400 in Bautzen Council acts in a document, the neighboring Keula is already detectable 1268. The name Krauschwitz is of Slavic and means " pear village". In 1771 the first school was founded. A forest fire in 1775 destroyed the city almost completely. Coat of arms
