Geography
Geographical location
The community Horgenzell lies between Lake Constance and oberschwäbischem hills about ten kilometers west of Ravensburg. Distance to Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance is about 20 kilometers.
Neighboring communities
Neighboring municipalities are Wilhelm village, Fronreute, mountain and the villages Schmalegg and Taldorf the city of Ravensburg (all district Ravensburg ), and the municipalities Oberteuringen and Deggenhausertal in Lake Constance.

History
The village was first mentioned in 1094 as Horguncella. The origin of this place name is not clearly understood. The territory of the municipality belonged to the Baden Tepfenhart to 1803 for the imperial abbey of Weingarten and then came up with this in 1806 to the newly formed Kingdom of Württemberg, where the upper office Ravensburg, the forerunner to the county, was one. The community was founded on March 1, 1972 from the merger of the municipalities rabbits Weiler, Kappel, Wolketsweiler and Zogenweiler. The place Horgenzell was at that time the district of Wolketsweiler.
