IFK Luleå

IFK Luleå is a Swedish sports club from Luleå. The association founded in 1900, is best known for its football team, which played a season in the Premier League, but currently only competes unterklassig. The ice hockey team of the club split off in 1977 to start with Luleå SK later Swedish champions Luleå HF.

History

The IFK Luleå was founded in 1900 and is the oldest sports club of the place. Since North Swedish teams were eliminated in the early years of Swedish football of the higher leagues, the team was able to reach up to the country-wide opening in the early 1950s, no national merit.

1954 IFK Luleå first played with for promotion to the second division, but could at the end of the season only take second place behind Up IFK Holmsund. Two years later succeeded with nine points ahead of runner-up Skellefteå IF the relay victory, and that the rise in the Swedish House of Commons. There, the club sat stuck in the middle part of the table, before 1970 surprisingly succeeded in re- season victory. The opponents in the promotion round were called Landskrona BoIS, Sandvikens IF and Skövde AIK. With a win and two draws IFK Luleå took second place and thus promotion to the Swedish Elite Series.

THe Allsvenskan proved too strong for IFK Luleå. With four wins this season and six draws only 14 points were brought too little for the league. The following season the Erstligaabsteiger against the slip fought in the third division. With one point ahead of relegated Domsjö IF however this could be initially avoided a year later relegation was only occupied. The direct revival followed the re descent.

After a few years in the middle of the third division to IFK Luleå early 1980s reported back to the front of the table. However, several times was only the second space will be occupied.

In 1986, IFK Luleå Luleå FF with local rivals, who played in the second division, a game community. 2005 IFK Luleå fell victim to reform the League and was assigned as seventh in the now fourth-rate Division 2.
