Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies

The Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies ( IGRS ) is a belonging to the University of London Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies.

The IGRS is part of the School of Advanced Study and was created in 2004 through the merger of the Institute of Germanic Studies (founded 1950) and the Institute of Romance Studies (founded in 1989). The institute is purely a post-graduate institution, ie only master courses and doctoral programs it offered there. In addition to Germanic and Romance Studies Institute is focused on the research for Cultural Memory ( Cultural Memory). In addition, the IGRS acting as a national center for professional related conferences, seminars and events.

The IGRS are several research centers affiliated with: the Centre for the Study of Cultural Memory, the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Women 's Writing, the Ingeborg Bachmann Centre for Austrian Literature and the Research Centre for German and Austrian Exile Studies.
