International Tchaikovsky Competition

The discharged since 1958 and every four years in Moscow held International Tchaikovsky Competition was for many decades one of the world's most important music competitions, mainly in piano. But the other categories violin, cello and vocals ( male and female) had and have a high international reputation.

The first winner in 1958, just middle of the Cold War the Americans Van Cliburn, was honored for his return to New York with a ticker-tape parade. Many musicians started by winning a world-class career. The first German laureates ( 6th prize ) in 1966 was the Dresden pianist Peter Rosel; first German winner in 1990 of the Saarland cellist Gustav Rivinius.

The last competition was held in June 2011. Winners will be promoted now by their participation in their career by appearing etc..
