Itterbeck

Itter Beck is an old peasantry, which has evolved into an independent municipality with 1,820 inhabitants. Itterbeck belongs to Uelsen in the district of Bentheim in Lower Saxony.

Geography

Scenic Itterbeck is characterized by heathland and forest landscapes and cultivated Moore. Worth seeing are the nature and FFH Itter Becker Heath and the " Egger Riese ", a several meters high glacial boulder. The source of the stream Itter flowing through Itterbeck is, about one kilometer east of Itterbeck in a wooded area of Itter Becker Heath.

Geographical Location

Itterbeck is located northwest of Nordhorn on the border with the Netherlands. Northeast of Itterbeck lies the community Wilsum, east of the town of Uelsen, southeast of the town Getelo and northwest and southwest of the town Wielen, who also all belong to Uelsen. In the west the municipality Tubbergen is the Dutch municipality of Hardenberg, in the south (both Overijssel ).

History

The name Itterbeck derives from the flowing through the village of Itter stream. In 2004, the city celebrated its 750th anniversary Itterbeck.

Coat of arms

On November 3, 1970 the Council of the municipality Itterbeck decided to adopt the described below from heraldist Hans Heinrich Reclam from Osnabrück designed coat of arms.

Education and Social
