Jan-Axel Alavaara

Jan- Axel Alavaara ( born March 14, 1975 in Kiruna ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who was most recently at the EHC Linz in the EBEL under contract. Alavaara is employed as Cotrainer the U20 youth team of the Swedish association MODO Hockey since 2012.

Career

Alavaara began his career in his hometown in Kiruna IF. There, the defensive player was five years under contract and joined the 1995/96 season in the highest Swedish league, the Elitserien to MODO Hockey. After the links Sagittarius often came in the junior team to use during his first season in Örnsköldsvik, he was the following year at the root cadres of Sweden. His personal best season was the game of 1999/00, as Alavaara could achieve 16 points scorer in a total of 56 league games completed.

In the summer of 2001, the now 26 -year-old opted for a change to league rivals Frölunda HC, with whom he won the 2003 and 2005 Swedish Championship in years. The Swede was in the six years in which he went for the Frölunda HC on the ice, to the service providers within the team. At the end of the season 2006/07 Alavaara decided against a contract extension and instead moved to other European countries. Finally was able to convince him of a commitment in the Swiss National League A, the management of the Kloten Flyers.

After only one season Alavaara left the club again to then lace in the season 2008 /09 for the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga skates. Early February 2009, extended the defender his expiring contract in Wolfsburg for another two years and stood until the contract expires in 2011 in the cadre of Lower Saxony, with whom he was runner-up in his last season.

For the 2011/12 season he returned to his native Sweden, where he was obliged by Skellefteå AIK of the Elitserien. In January 2012, his contract was terminated with the AIK and Alavaara moved to Austria to EHC Linz. There, he played 26 games and was still with the Black Wings Austrian champion. Beginning of April 2012 it was announced that he would end his active career, in returning to his homeland in order to act in the Elitserien club MODO Hockey as Cotrainer in the U20 Superelit.
