Jan Muršak

Jan Muršak ( born January 20, 1988 in Maribor, SR Slovenia) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who stands since May 2013 in Amur Khabarovsk in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

January Muršak began his career in 2002 at the U18 youth team of HK Maribor, where he got 89 points scorer within two years in 35 games. Due to his good performances he rose in the season 2003/ 04 on the U20 juniors and came as a 15 -year-old in the first team of HK Maribor in the Slovenian Hockey League used. The following year, Muršak was already one of the most important players in the senior team and came in 24 league games on 16 goals and 29 assists, which he was the second best scorer of HK Maribor. In summer 2005, he joined the HC České Budějovice in the Czech Extraliga U20 - and even there, he convinced with 15 goals and 15 assists in 43 games.

The Detroit Red Wings selected in the NHL Entry Draft Muršak 2006 in the sixth round at position 182. He also changed shortly after the NHL Entry Draft to North America, but first joined the Saginaw Spirit of the Canadian Junior Football League OHL. He had a very good start to the season and totaled 45 points in the first 28 games among the top ten scorers in the league, but left at the end slightly and was with 27 goals and 53 assists, fourth- best scorer among the rookies. After the end of the OHL season, he signed an entry contract with the Detroit Red Wings and came to his first professional assignments in North America, as he prepares for the Grand Rapids Griffins, the farm team of the Red Wings, played in all seven playoff games in the AHL and two assists contributed. But in the 2007/ 08 season he returned to the OHL and played back at the beginning again for the Saginaw Spirit, but was transferred in the course of the season within the league to the Belleville Bulls, who finished the regular season as the second best team. For Muršak the season was compared to the previous year, a step backwards, as he took only 64 points in 57 games. However, he was in the playoffs back to its old form with 24 points and was the second best scorer of the Bulls, who were indeed lost the OHL final against the Kitchener Rangers, but still participate in the Memorial Cup tournament of the best Canadian junior teams. There they met again in the semifinals of the Kitchener Rangers and documents clearly with 0:9.

In autumn 2008 Muršak took part in the training camp of the Detroit Red Wings and recommended for a place in the squad of the farm teams from Grand Rapids. There he had in his first professional season, however, difficulties to adjust to the speed and körpliche hardness. His offensive game suffered and only in the 29th season game he scored his first goal. Because of his weaknesses he came infrequently used. In the seasons 2009 /10 and 2010/11, he succeeded his point yield in the Grand Rapids Griffins greatly increase and Muršak therefore recommended for inclusion in the NHL squad of the Detroit Red Wings, for which he 27 December 2010 game against the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL debut.

At this time in January Muršak was judged to be very good skater who could very good with the puck. In addition, he possessed qualities as playmaker. Physically, he would still have to work on themselves and would have its sometimes occurring indiscipline on the ice better control.

During the NHL lockout in 2012 Muršak played for HDD Olimpija Ljubljana, scoring 48 points scorer in 30 games EBEL. Then he returned to the Griffins before his contract expired after the 2012/13 season. He was then obliged by Amur Khabarovsk.

Internationally

For Slovenia Muršak took part in the junior level at the U18 Junior B World Championships in 2005 and 2006 and the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In the Division I U20 World Cup 2008 he was the best striker in the group B selected. In the senior level, he was so far exclusively in B- World Cup 2010 squad in his country. With this he rose with Slovenia in the top division.
