Jasenice is a municipality in Croatia in the Zadar County

Location and population

Jasenice located about 40 km northeast of Zadar. The municipality is located in the hinterland of the Velebit mountain

The municipality has 1,398 inhabitants Jasenice and consists of the two places Zaton Obrovački (126 inhabitants ) and Jasenice with 1,272 inhabitants ( 2011 census ).

History

On the coat of arms of the municipality of the fairy from the Velebit is to see an old Croatian legendary figure.

The area around Jasenice was an important place for the Winnetou films in 1960s. In Jasenice will also discuss a Winnetou theme park.

In the Croatian War of 1991 Jasenica heavy Serb attacks was exposed and it was seriously damaged.
