Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County (former)

The Jász -Nagykun -Szolnok ( German rarely county Jass Nagykunság - Sollnock; Hungarian Jasz -Nagykun -Szolnok Vármegye, Latin comitatus Jazyga et Cumania Maior et Szolnokiensis ) was a historic administrative unit ( county / county) in the Kingdom of Hungary.

The area lies in present-day central Hungary on the face of today's Jász -Nagykun -Szolnok, however, was somewhat smaller than this.

Location

The county bordered on the counties Pest - Pilis - Solt -Kiskun, Heves, Hajdú, Békés and Csongrád and was crossed by the rivers Tisza and Körös.

History

The county was formed in 1876 through the merger of the counties Szolnok, Jászság ( Jazygien ) and Nagykunság ( Nagykunság ) and consisted in this form to large Komitatsreform 1950. During the same year the area around Dévaványa was assigned to the Békés County in the wake of the great Komitatsreform, in return also came the left bank of the Tisza added ( to Tiszafüred ) the Heves County.
