John Fedorowicz

John Peter Fedorowicz ( born September 27, 1958 at the New York City borough of The Bronx ) is a major American chess master.

As a 13 -year-old learned Fedorowicz, inspired by the world championship match in 1972 between Robert James Fischer and Boris Spassky, the rules of chess. In his youth he had a exceptionally rapid development in the game: in 1977 he was divided U.S. Youth Champion in 1978 the sole winner. In 1978 he became an International Master in 1980 he won the U.S. Open ( shared with Florin Gheorghiu ), 1984 he was with the U.S. Championship third, 1984/85 he was in the tradition of Hastings tournament runner-up, also in Dortmund 1986.

This year, the FIDE awarded him the grandmaster title. Fedorowicz won four times in the World Open in Philadelphia, in 1989, the New York Open, also in 1987 in Cannes and Sesimbra and in 1990 in Wijk aan Zee.

Fedorowicz played in the 1988/89 season for the SG Porz in the chess Bundesliga and was Sekundant of Gata Kamsky in his FIDE world championship match in Elista in 1996 against Anatoly Karpov. Fedorowicz is a respected live commentator in the largest internet chess club in the world, the U.S. Internet Chess Club, also the author of numerous articles and books. His current Elo rating is 2427 (as of April 2014), its highest ever Elo rating of 2574 reached Fedorowicz in January 1999.
